The PETRA-E Network is a European network of institutions dedicated to the education and training of literary translators. It aims to set up and strengthen a European infrastructure.

The PETRA-E Network’s major achievements so far are the publication of a framework of reference for the education and training of literary translators and a database with courses and programs for literary translation. The PETRA-E Framework defines competences and levels in literary translating in order to improve the quality of literary translations and the visibility of literary translators in Europe.

The PETRA-E Framework is available in 8 languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian and Spanish. Bulgarian and Portugese translations will shortly be available.

PETRA stands for Plateforme Européenne pour la traduction littéraire. The ‘E’ stands for Education.
